Video competition
5/14/2012 18:24

Dexway has just launched a video contest for the students of our courses to participate in and to show that learning languages is an incredible and unique experience. You can access our dexway blog by clicking on the link below for the instructions and advantages of participating in this contest:

 http://www.dexway.com/blog/video-competition/

This is an extraordinary opportunity to express yourself in the language that you are learning and to share your ideas with the rest of the dexway community—which is why we are encouraging you to participate so that you can put your languages to use and enjoy the many prizes that we offer. Not only will you have the opportunity to upload your own ideas and opinions, but you will also share your experiences of learning one or more languages, and we’re sure that there will be many!

On the blog, you will find all of the necessary information to be able to participate in the contest—which is on until August—and a more detailed explanation of exactly what it is we are looking for.

Don’t hesitate to participate, and good luck!

What's new in the forums?
3/15/2012 20:57

Dexway has just opened a new thread in the English forums to deal with the linguistic and cultural differences between the British English and the Australian English varieties. Our Australian friend Kat tells us how they celebrate Christmas, what the sports practiced in her country are and she points out the lexical differences between the UK and Australia for certain items.

Click on Communications>Forums and add your comments on the video. The dexway tutoring team has posted a series of questions up for discussion and we would like you to take part.

Did you know that...?

Dexway has opened other threads about the ox-tail pie recipe and Anglicisms in the British English forums, as well as in the American English forums, we have created threads on the town of San Antonio in Texas and the origin of hamburgers.
Make use of the forums to get to know other students and to share experiences.

Dexway brings the classroom to your home without you having to go anywhere, and offers you complete access to our native tutors available 24x7x365 through the virtual classroom One2One.

Forums

This first week of October has seen Dexway launch its forums, a new studying environment enabling students to enhance their cultural learning as well as encourage their interaction with the tutors. From now on, you will be able to share your opinions regarding present day affairs, learn new customs, traditions and festivities whilst meeting students from all around the world who are studying the same language as you.  The forums are run and led by the dexway tutoring team, as always ready to help you through the One2One virtual classroom 24x7x365.

How does one access the forums?

Connect to the www.dexway.com platform and start up a session by using your access codes so as to access the Dexway Community. Having done this, click on “Enter” within the Forum box. This will automatically upload the respective forums and threads to your course.

Alternately, you can also access from your platform by clicking on Communication>Forums.

How do the forums work?

Tutors will propose, via the forums, various activities and themes related to a range of cultural aspects of the given country. By doing this, the cultural training is achieved through student-tutor interactions.

Tutors are therefore in charge of proposing the given activity as well as moderating and making the threads more dynamic. In addition to publishing comments through written text, the tutors will put up a recorded video so that the students can appreciate the pronunciation, intonation and non-verbal language. In Dexway, we like to make the most out of each and every moment to encourage written and oral comprehension whilst humanizing the e-learning experience by using the tutors’ videos.

What themes will be dealt with?

Four themes will be explored and will be constantly updated. The thematic choice depends on the relevance and importance for the learning process.

Forums vs. Study Groups

We recently announced the launching of the Study Groups, an environment whereby students can share experiences, chat and practice various grammatical aspects or use of language they consider useful. The exchange takes place via a videoconference virtual classroom with an interactive virtual whiteboard and projector, available 24x7x365.

Forums are asynchronous communication tools which stimulate reflection, investigation, and writing instead of the more spontaneous and oral-based framework of the study groups. Both of these training methods are essential in your language learning and we highly recommend that you use them as often as you wish.

Dexway brings the classroom to your home without you having to go anywhere, and offers you complete access to our native tutors available 24x7x365 through the virtual classroom One2One.
